"That they all may be one."

John 17:21

Welcome to Apples UCC

Apples Church Today

Apples Church is currently a vital and growing fellowship. Our mission is to respond to the needs of our members and families, the local community, the nation, and those who suffer throughout our world, as Christ taught us to do.  We are a congregation who likes music – singing and listening.

We invite you to worship with us.  Casual dress is accepted as we care more about what’s in your heart than the outward appearance.

We are part of the mainline, Protestant denomination: the United Church of Christ.  Historically, the UCC was born in 1957, the results of a merger of two denominations:  Evangelical & Reformed organized in 1725 by German immigrants with which Apples was affiliated and the Congregational churches, successors to the Pilgrims & Puritans of New England.  The UCC today is an exciting and diverse mixture of faithful Christians from a wide variety of backgrounds.  We seek Jesus Christ within our churches, our communities and the world.  In the midst of the joy and tension such witnessing brings, we seek to fulfill the UCC motto,

“That they may all be one.”
(John 17:21)

- Pastor Laura Robeson

Worship

No matter who you are or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here.  Each Sunday, Apples UCC offers Christian worship at 9:30am.  This short service in a relaxed atmosphere contains opportunities for sharing joys and concerns, being in prayer in a variety of ways, hearing the Bible read, and listening to a short sermon concerning one of those Bible readings.  This joyful event includes greeting each other and encouraging all, but especially our children.

On the first Sunday of each month and on Easter, Christmas, and other special occasions we participate in Holy Communion.  We insist that God's communion table is open, not closed.  All are invited to take part in our communion every time we observe this vital sacrament.  Our congregation extends hospitality as a sign of God's inclusive love.

Christian Education

Adult Sunday School is held each Sunday at 10:45am, following worship.  This class studies the Bible, uses various devotional aides, and addresses how our Christian beliefs are reflected in our daily lives.

Child Sunday School is held on a specific Sunday of the month.  The children begin in the Worship service and then are dismissed after the Anthem and have a learning session, make crafts, and often do a service project.  There are usually treats of some sort, too.

Confirmation is the act of an individual who affirms their belief in Jesus and their membership in the church.  These classes are held at various times.  See announcements for the schedule.

Music

Apples UCC is well known for its very talented choir which offers an anthem almost every Sunday, September through June.  The choir is led by trained musicians and a professional organist/pianist.  Often, they offer special events.

The Apples Children’s choir sings periodically in our worship service and at special events.

Our Facilities

Our stone church has been present on the site since 1826.  Today it is the result of various remodeling efforts, but the character of the building retains much that is historic.  The Sunday school building was built in 1965, which houses a modern bathroom and areas for meetings and classrooms.

We have a pavilion located on the property that is surrounded by beautiful and old trees. It has picnic tables that were purchased by the members and friends of Apples.
